Use a predictable rhythm
Take the puppy to the same appropriate location frequently. Stay quiet while the puppy finishes, then reward immediately.
Prevent mistakes
Freedom should match reliability. Use supervision, a leash near you, a crate for short appropriate periods or a puppy pen. Clean accidents enzymatically and adjust the schedule.
Make the crate safe
Introduce the crate with food, treats, chews and short successful rests. It should be a calm sleeping place, never punishment.
Small-breed considerations
Italian Greyhound puppies may benefit from a carefully designed indoor potty option during unsafe weather. Keep sleep, food and elimination zones distinct and stay consistent.
